Hemingway Shorts Contest 2017

The Hemingway Foundation of Oak Park is hosting their annual short story contest. The contest is accepting submissions of no longer than 1,500 words. Prizes include a $500 award and publication in the foundation’s new literary journal Hemingway Shorts. Find the official call for submissions here. Submissions are due Tuesday, April 4.

The Cold Mountain Review Poetry Prize

The deadline for Cold Mountain Review’s R.T. Smith Prize for Narrative Poetry is fast approaching, on March 15! The prize awards a narrative poem on ecological and/or eco-justice $500. All submissions will be considered for publication in the spring issue of CMR. Find out more and submit online.

The contest is open to new original work from both established and emerging writers, so long as the work is previously unpublished. The winner will receive $1,000 and publication. The Black Lawrence Press is now accepting submissions for their Hudson Prize for poetry and short story collections until March 31. The poetry prize accepts manuscripts of 45-95 pages, and the fiction prize accepts manuscripts of 120-280 pages. Winners will receive publication, 10 copies of the book, and $1,000 cash.
