On Friday, October 18, join students and scholars at The Byron Society Literary Conference from 8-5pm at DePaul’s Daley building to celebrate the 200th birthday of the first publication of Don Juan, published anonymously in 1819! On Saturday, the conference convenes at the Chicago History Museum, on North Avenue and Clark. The event will feature music inspired by Don Juan on Saturday on an Art Deco stage at the Chicago Historical society. Keynote speakers include: Jerome McGann, Clara Tuite, Alice Levine, and Peter Graham.
Several DePaul MA in English and alums are involved, as well as the DePaul School of Music. Professor Jonathon Gross is the conference organizer. He is joined by the President of of the Byron Society of America, Andrew Stauffer, and the president of the Keats-Shelley Association of America, Neil Fraistat.
