Feb. Basketball Games: Support the Blue Demons AND DePaul English Majors!

It’s not too often that you hear the words “English major” and “star athlete” in the same sentence. But at DePaul, we take pride in breaking the mold. So I’m proud to report that the captain of the women’s basketball team, Jorie Allen, is also a talented member our Master of Arts in Writing and Publishing program. As for the men’s team? Well, the Blue Demons recently defeated a Big East opponent for the first time in 730 days, ending a 39-game regular-season losing streak in the conference. Are their fortunes finally changing? English majors—who know better than anyone that there’s a fine line between comedy and tragedy, happy endings and heartbreaking reversals—are uniquely suited to tackle such questions.

That’s why I’m writing, in fact. I hope you’ll join me, as well as many of your fellow English alums, at one or both of the following LAS College Days matchups:

DePaul Men’s Basketball vs. Villanova – Wednesday, Feb. 5, at 8 p.m.

DePaul Women’s Basketball vs. Villanova – Wednesday, Feb. 12, at 7 p.m.

Every ticket purchased through this link will contribute $5 back to the College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences. I suggest you purchase seats in section 123, so that we can all sit fairly close to each other. I will also be at the LAS table on the concourse during halftime of the games so please come say hi and catch up.

Come together with fellow LAS faculty, staff, and alumni to celebrate our community. I can’t wait to see you there!

All best,

Miles Harvey
