Catamaran accepts fiction, poetry, creative nonfiction, and visual art. Themes they are especially interested in are science and nature writing, creativity and the artistic process, personal journey and travel, and innovation; any setting is fine, but the West Coast is of particular interest. There is an $8 reading fee for general submissions.

You can submit to Catamaran at any time of the year! They would like to consider your submission for two consecutive quarterly issues of the magazine after you submit, so please allow up to six months for a decision. For special, time-sensitive calls for submission, see the opportunities below:

• The Catamaran Poetry Prize for West Coast Poets is open for submissions from November to April.
• Submissions for Special Issue: Gardens (reading fee $2.99) close on October 16, 2AM CST.
• Submissions for Special Issue: Fashion (reading fee $2.99) close on February 2, 2AM CST.
