Submit your work to Subnivean—an international publication read in 52 countries and recently honored by the Community of Literary Magazines and Presses as one of just four national finalists for the 2021 Firecracker Award in the category of “Magazines: Best Debut.”
This year, Juan Felipe Herrera and Daniel “Lemony Snicket” Handler will judge (and write blurbs for the winners of) the Subnivean Awards competition.
Seven finalists’ work will be forwarded on to a final judge and published in the summer issue — where two winners (one in fiction, one in poetry) will also be announced. Winners receive a blurb about their writing by the final judge who selected it, as well as $150 each. Finalists and winners will also be featured at a virtual literary event with Herrera and Handler.
In addition to this contest, Subnivean also reads general submissions year-round.
