From Prof. Rebecca Johns Trissler:
Welcome to another academic year in the MAWP Program. I am excited to be taking over as director of the MAWP program from Prof. Morano, who is taking over as Chair of the Department of English. We’re energized by the strong cohort of both returning and incoming MAWP students and look forward to having you in our writing, publishing, and teaching courses during the upcoming year.
In addition to your courses, students can take advantage of many internship opportunities and occasions to meet and learn from esteemed visiting writers. This fall, we’ll be celebrating the release of Prof. Anton’s new book PLANET OF MICROBES: The Perils and Potential of Earth’s Essential Life Forms (University of Chicago Press) and welcoming two other writers to campus: Allison Joseph, esteemed poet and editor of the Crab Orchard Review (http://craborchardreview.siu.edu/), as well as DePaul English alum and comedian Sarah Pappalardo, who co-founded the satirical site Reductress. (Read a little about Sarah here: http://www.cosmopolitan.com/career/a4962907/get-that-life-reductress-sarah-pappalardo/)
I am always available to answer your questions about the program, or about careers in writing, teaching, or publishing. Please feel free to stop by the second-floor graduate suite or drop me a line at rebecca.johns@depaul.edu.
