As the quarter inches closer to summer break, Ex Libris would like to update folks on a few awesome accomplishments from the last few weeks.
First, a kudos to Dave Welch who will be spending part of his summer at the Sewanee Writer’s Conference, and will have his tuition paid as their Tennessee Williams Scholar. Great work Dave!
Next, two professors in the department are recent gran winners! Rebecca Johns Trissler was awarded a Quality of Instruction Council (QIC) Competitive Instructional Grant, and Paula McQuade was awarded a University Research Council (URC) Competitive Research Grant. Y’all rock, keep it up!
Two English students also deserve accolades for accomplishments this quarter. Undergraduate Madeline Dulabaum and fellow graduate student Emily Natzel will be next year’s Crook & Folly Editors-in-Chief. Ex Libris is confident Emily and Madeline will continue the excellent work put out by C&F! Congrats you two!
Finally, a bitter-sweet announcement regarding the leadership of the English Department in the coming academic year. The entire university owes current English Department Chair, Francesca Royster a huge thank you! Francesca has been an amazing leader for the department in the last two years and done so much in supporting and strengthening English academics at DePaul. Francesca has decided to step down, at the end of the 2016-2018 year, and we will greatly miss her!
That being said, at the same time Ex Libris is very excited to congratulate Professor Michele Morano as she assumes the role of chair for the coming 2017-2018 year! Michele is the current Director of Graduate Programs for the English Department, a role she has completed wonderfully. Michele will continue her excellent work in her new role and push the department to grow in new and exciting ways in the coming years.
Congrats to all!
