The Women’s Center is hosting a Women’s History Month Lecture next month called, “Fee Them All: Defending the Lives of Criminalized Survivors of Violence.”
The event takes place on Thursday, March 2nd in Cortelyou Commons at 6:30 PM. Check out more on Facebook.
From the organizers:
In the past few years, the names of Marissa Alexander, Cece McDonald, Bresha Meadows and others have come to public attention as people whose lives were lived at the intersection(s) of gender violence and criminalization. Besides the fact that they are Black women and girls, all three had robust defense committees organized to demand their freedom. This talk will focus on how survivors of violence come into conflict with the law and describe how some communities are resisting their criminalization.
