There are only two days left to send in your submissions for the UCD Anthology Contest! The yearly anthology produced by the University College Dublin Creative Writing Masters showcases the talents of the UCD English department, but as part of fundraising efforts for this year’s anthology, the Creative Writing Masters group is running a competition open to all, from inside and outside the university.
One winner will be selected from the short story and another winner from the poetry submissions and their work, along with a quick bio will be included in the anthology. The contest is open to anyone, domestic and international, including all writers and poets regardless of experience from NOW until September 14, 2011 at 11:59PM. The University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign Thirteenth Annual Graduate Symposium on Women’s & Gender History has issued a call for papers. The Symposium, which is the capstone event of the History Department’s Women’s History month celebration, is scheduled for March 1-3, 2012. Submissions are welcome from graduate students from any institution and discipline on any topic in the field of women’s and gender history. The theme of the symposium is INDECENCY, although it should be noted that the theme is “meant to be open-ended-provocative rather than prescriptive.”

Alumni news and a call for submissions all in one: Christopher Smith (M.A.W.P. ’11) has been selected as a monthly columnist for the new online literary magazine Niche.
